The kins allege political conspiracy behind Jhiram Ghati Naxal attack

The family members of the Jhiram Ghati martyred Congress leaders said that the Jhiram Ghati Naxal attack case should be investigated by Special Investigation Team (SIT) constituted by the State government so that the victim families could get justice in the case. Talking to mediapersons at state Congress party office Rajiv Bhawan on Sunday, Jitendra Mudliyar, son of martyred Congress leader Uday Mudliyar, said that the Central Government should transfer the Jhiram Ghati Naxal attack case to the State Government from National Investigation Agency (NIA) for investigation. There was a criminal political conspiracy in the killings of the Congress leaders at Jhiram Ghati.

It is a matter of investigation as to why the security was withdrawn during Congress’ Parivartan Yatra, in which 29 people including 13 Congress leaders were killed in Jhiram Ghati Naxal attack on May 25, 2013. The Jhiram Ghati massacre should be investigated involving the criminal political conspiracy angle to bring truth to the fore, he added. The Union Ministry of Home Affairs has not transferred the case to the state government and the reports of the NIA should be shared with the state government, said Jitendra Mudliyar. Tulika Karma, daughter of martyred Congress leader Mahendra Karma, claimed that she had reached first at Darbha Ghati but the NIA had not recorded her statement in the case. Tulika Karma said that the NIA had not recorded the statements of the victim family members in a deviation of justice to the family members and investigation.

“We demand that the Jhiram Ghati case should be handed over to the state government from the NIA for investigation. The truth of the Jhiram Ghati massacre should come and the guilty people could be nabbed and punished in the case,” said Karma. CPCC’s Communication Department Shailesh Nitin Trivedi, Harshit Sharma, son of martyred Congress leader Pramod Sharma, Daulat Rohra, close aide of former Union Minister Vidya Charan Shukla and Mohammad Shahid, son of Alla Noor Khan, were present in the press conference. Earlier, Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel had accused the Centre government of blocking a fresh probe by the state government into the conspiracy behind the Jhiram Ghati Naxal attack. It may be mentioned that the State Government has written thrice to the Union Ministry of Home Affairs to transfer the case to the State Government from the NIA.

Case should be filed against CM for withholding evidence : BJP Bharatiya Janata Party had demanded that cases should be filed against Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel for withholding evidence in Jhiram massacre case. Coming down heavily on the remarks made by Chhattisgarh Pradesh Congress Committee during a press conference on Sunday, the BJP said the Chief Minister should update his memory so that he can find out the jacket or kurta in which he used to boast of having Jhiram evidences while he was in opposition. Bharatiya Janata Party State Spokesperson Sachidanand Upasne while reacting sharply against the Congress statements on Jhiram massacre, said in a communique that it is highly shameful that the Congress is not stopping short of politicising the martyrdom of their own leaders and shedding crocodile tears. Upasne said the family members of these senior Congress leaders who were martyred in Jhiram Ghati should definitely get justice. He said Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, when he used to be in the opposition had many a times in Legislative Assembly sessions as well as during public meetings and press conferences had stated that he possessed evidences pertaining to Jhiram massacre in his pocket. Over the years the Chief Minister had leveled allegations and boasted of having evidences, so why shouldn’t a criminal case be filed against him for withholding evidences, he asked. Upasne asked the Congress leaders who have a habit to blame BJP for every other thing, put pressure on their Chief Minister to bring out the so called evidences so that Jhiram massacre reaches to a logical conclusion. The BJP Spokesperson asked the Congress leaders to update the memory of their Chief Minister which he has not be able to table for enquiry although he is in power since last 18 months. He said the Congress has always tried to create hindrances in the enquiry on Jhiram incident. Many a times it had created hindrances in the investigations by NIA or in judicial probe in the name of procedures. It seems the ruling Congress doesn’t have any intention to carry out the investigation to its logical conclusion nor it wants to deliver justice to its victims. Had it been in the agenda of the ruling Congress, it could have been done so in last 18 months easily
