Students often find it tough while trying to strike a balance between academics and sports, but finding the balance is essential for modern students. Class X student Pragya Kashyap, who is equally good when it comes to sports and academics, has created history by securing 600 out of 600 in the Class X Examination-2020, conducted by Chhattisgarh Board of Secondary Education (CGBSE). With 100 per cent marks, Pragya has emerged as topper of CGBSE top-10 tentative list meritorious students. Pragya, a student of Government H S School, Mungeli, obtained 590 marks out of 600 in academics.

She has been awarded 10 bonus marks for her outstanding performance in Scouts and Guides and other sports thereby taking the total mark to 600 out of 600. Talking to The Hitavada, Pragya said that she had planned her study, prepared time-table and followed it strictly throughout the year. “Sports and academics are two different things and I always tried not to let sports affect my study,” said Pragya. Sharing her future plans, Pragya said that she wants to become an IAS and serve the society. “I would also like to ask the students, who failed to clear the examination, not to get disappointed and try hard,” she said.

Pragya further said that he had confidence of making it to the merit list but top position came as a surprise for her. Pragya, daughter of Shivkumar and Lata Kashyap, said that she had never gone for coaching. Self-study and guidance of her teachers in the school led her to attain success. Ramkumari Dahira, principal of Pragya’s school, said that she is equally good in sports activities. She used to participate in school level sports apart from performing outstandingly in the state-level Scouts and Guides.
