Coming down heavily on the ruling Congress Government, former Agriculture Minister and senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Brijmohan Agrawal leveled allegation of misappropriation of funds in procurement of items like masks, sanitisers and other such materials and equipment which were purchased for control and prevention of COVID-19 pandemic.

Demanding full-fledged and transparent investigation in all these purchases, Agrawal said that an enquiry should take place on its usage also.

Highlighting, the cow-dung controversy going on in State, Agrawal said that the one-and-a-half-year tenure of the ruling Congress was nothing less than cow-dung as the Government failed in every front. He added that today people, farmers, students all are suffering while youths are unemployed. Agrawal said that if we lift cow-dung the soil underneath it also comes along, similarly the happiness of people are being churned out. Government officials are being reshuffled like playing cards.

Addressing media persons during a press conference at Ekatma Parisar, Agrawal said that the ruling Congress Government is suffering from policy paralysis. Neither the Government has any proper plans, nor it abides by any rules or regulations, everything is just like haywire.

Agrawal said that when the Congress came to power with 65 seats, it seemed that it had the support of people. But, now it seems people have lost their faith in the Government. During BJP rule, no cases were filed against mediapersons barring few in areas under the influence of Left Wing Extremism, even those were reviewed later.
Raising up the issue of Emergency on the occasion of its 45th anniversary, the former Minister said during Emergency, members of Bharatiya Jana Sangh and Rashtriya Swayamsewak Sangh were worst affected. The Congress at that time used to work on the instigation of one family, in fact it works the same way till today, he added. He said due to authoritarian approach the party had kept independence was kept mortgage during Emergency and democracy was brutally murdered. Political leaders were put in jail and during the period of these dreaded 19 months, many families were destroyed.

Agrawal said the previous BJP government had started honorarium for MISA detainees, which the ruling Congress blocked soon after it came to power and despite High Court order it has failed to start the same yet. He said similar behaviour is being carried out against media persons today as was done during emergency. One circular has been issued wherein it was stated that if wrong new is published FIR will be lodged against the journalist. In Chhattisgarh FIRs has been lodged against many journalists for their publications in newspapers or virtual media.
