A joint team of Railway Protection Force (RPF) Raipur post and its detective wing on Saturday arrested a man along with huge quantities of cigarettes. According to information received from RPF officials, the joint team has seized 12,000 packets of cigarettes from the platform-1 of Raipur railway station. The estimated market value of the cigarettes seized would be around Rs 18 lakh.
 
In this connection, RPF has arrested 30-year-old Nitin Kulkarni, a resident of Gudhiyari. “Preliminary investigation revealed that the parcel carrying huge quantity of cigarettes was booked from the parcel office of Raipur railway station by furnishing false details and was to be delivered in Maharashtra’s Bhusawal,” said RPF officials, elaborating that information in this regard have been forwarded to GST and custom department. RPF has registered an offence against the accused under relevant Section of Railways Act and launched a probe, added RPF officials.
