As many as 1,500 surveyors, on Saturday, took to nearly 51 slums in the State capital to pre-identify the patients of coronavirus. The State-wide ‘Kill Corona’ campaign will begin on July 1, but under the supervision of District Collector Avinash Lavania, a two-day campaign was launched in Bhopal on Saturday. Health workers, Anganwadi and ASHA workers, BMC officials and staffers reached several slums at sharp 7 am and started the work. Firstly the slums, where the teams were deployed, were sanitised and then the screening teams reached the spots.

Citizens were asked about the symptoms they were experiencing and as the second team reached, they identified the patients on Government launched ‘Sarthak’ application. The citizens were categorised into three categories, asymptomatic, symptomatic and those showing mild symptoms. Finally, entered the sampling team and took samples of those showing symptoms of coronavirus. The administration has targeted a population of more than 5 lakh citizens. Other than coronavirus the teams will also monitor the spread of malaria, dengue and other vector-borne diseases. The health officials will also conduct blood test of suspects using rapid kits and medicines were also distributed among the citizens.

People unhappy to see surveyors! People were not glad to see the health officials and BMC staffers knocking their doors for the surveying and sampling. The ungratefulness of the citizens was because many of them had undergone sampling, screening and surveying many a time. City Circle Tehsildar Devendra Chaudhary told ‘The Hitavada’ that the residents of Barkhedi slums did not co-operate much with the teams deployed. “Anyways, it was our duty to complete the survey and we did so,” Chaudhary added.
