MORE than 4,000 samples were taken by survey teams in the State capital under the two-day ‘Kill Corona’ campaign which concluded on Sunday. The samples were taken on WHO global influenza surveillance standards, which includes cases of Influenza-like Illness (ILI) and Severe Acute Respiratory Infection (SARI). The State-wide ‘Kill Corona’ campaign will begin on July 1 but under the supervision of Collector Avinash Lavania, two-day campaign was launched in Bhopal on Saturday.

On the second day, health workers, Anganwadi and ASHA workers, BMC officials and staffers reached several slums at 7 am and started survey work. The data was directly reported on Government launched ‘Sarthak’ application, which many of the surveyors failed to operate. Tehsildar MP Nagar, Manish Sharma told ‘The Hitavada’ that 22 teams were deployed at Anna Nagar slums and in two days the teams took samples of over 208 people. Sharma added that the survey teams have screened as many as 2,000 households in these slums.

Meanwhile, Tehsildar City Circle Devendra Choudhary said that the survey teams were deployed at 11 spots in city circle and that 887 samples were taken. Similarly, 139 samples were taken in Jatkhedi slums. SDM Kolar Rajesh Gupta said that we have covered a population of 38,000 people. Owing to a large number of slums in the area we will continue the process for a few more days, Gupta added.
