MOST of the markets in the State capital remained closed on Sunday owing to weekend lockdown to break the chain of transmission. However, shops dealing with essential commodities and services were open the whole day, barring those in containment zones. In New Market area, most of the shopkeepers kept their shops closed while others kept waiting for customers.

Shopkeepers rued that there was confusion among them and residents regarding opening of shops due to which many shops remained closed. Also, very few vehicles were seen on roads. Malls also wore a deserted look with shopkeepers slightly unhappy that their business would be hit badly due to weekend lockdown restrictions, as many people visit malls during evenings on weekends. Bus stands and railway stations also saw no footfalls with restriction on movement.
