The Nagpur Sarafa Association has recently urged the concerned authorities to make the Sarafa Market free from vendors occupying footpaths. The association said that the vendors are illegally setting up their stalls in the market which is posing a big threat to the health of all those visiting the area considering the current situation of coronavirus.

“All most all the permanent shop owners are strictly following the rule and guidelines given to them by the authorities to prevent the spread of coronavirus. We are keeping shops open on odd or even days as per the rules. Apart from this all the shop owners are also maintaining social distancing,” Kishore Dharashivkar, President of the Association highlighted in the release issued here. However, Dharashivkar said, the vendors are showing no concern towards the crucial measures. “No one is following the guidelines. They do not have the facility of hand sanitization. Moreover, they do not control the number of customers they are dealing with. It is a very risky affair that may spread coronavirus,” he said.

For the past few days, the vendors are putting up stalls in front of the closed shops in the market showing no concern for COVID-19 prevention measures. Rajesh Rokde, Secretary of the association said that the local authorities must not allow the vendors to set up shops in front of the closed shops. “The norms of physical distancing, less crowd, etc. are not being followed by the vendors. They are also affecting the businesses of permanent shops,” Rokde said. The Association demanded that vendors must not be allowed to do business in front of closed shops.
