ITF names Nagpur’s Supriya as National Female Ambassador

All India Tennis Association recommended Supriya’s name and she was appointed by the ITF as the ambassador. She now will have to chart out some female oriented ideas, projects to see how more females could enter this field. 
 
CITY’S international tennis umpire Supriya Chatterjee has been appointed as National Female Ambassador to promote female tennis officials in India. The appointment was done by International Tennis Federation (ITF) recently. In 2019, ITF Officiating launched the project ‘Advantage All’ to highlight and promote women in tennis officiating across the globe.
 
The Asia Oceania edition was held during an ITF Women’s $100,000 event in Shenzhen, China, with cooperation from China Tennis Association. An all women team with female tutors from ITF officiated the event. The event also saw workshops activities, interactions, brain storming training & evaluating sessions. Sheetal Iyer of India was the referee and Supriya was one of the White Badge chair umpires. Others who were selected from the Asia Oceania Region were from Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Hong Kong, Chinese Taipei, Kazakhstan, Australia and China. Following this workshop, ITF appointed a Female Ambassador for Asia, who was from China. Going further the ITF promoted the idea of appointing National Female Ambassadors from each nation in the Asian region.

Supriya now will have to chart out some female oriented ideas, projects to see how more females could enter this field. A White Badge since 2009, Supriya is an IT Professional. She was selected for 2019 Wimbledon Qualifying. In 2018, she was in the Pre-Australian Open Events’ Asian team of officials.
 
In 2017 she was a chair umpire in both multi-nation events held in Asia, World University Games (TPE) and Indoor Asian Games (Turkmenistan). She has also worked as a line umpire at Korea and Hong Kong WTA events and is a regular at the ITF, Davis/Fed Cup and ATP events in India, both as a chair and line umpire.
