A fraudster duped a man to the tune of Rs 1.25 lakh on pretext of providing medical treatments to his ailing son under Chief Minister’s Relief Fund. The accused was identified as Sushil Puri. According to police, Prathamesh Adhaukar (35), son of complainant Ramesh Adhaukar (57), a resident of Chhoti Umri village in Akola district, is ailing with Aplastic anemia disease, a rare condition in which the body stops producing enough new blood cells.

Prathamesh was admitted at Aureus Institute of Medical Sciences Hospital, Medical Square. Puri met Ramesh Adhaukar on June 24 and promised him arranging medical treatment under Chief Minister’s Relief Fund. He took Rs 1.25 lakh from Adhaukar for the same. Later, Puri stopped responding to Adhaukar’s phone calls. On realising being cheated, Adhaukar approached police and lodged a complaint against Puri. Ajni police registered a case under Sections 406 and 420 of the Indian Penal Code against Sushil Puri.
