The boy’s mother had informed Rana Pratap Nagar Police Station after she got a call from her son. The cops immediately swung into action.

A youth was abducted by three relatives of a girl who was his ‘close friend’ in college. The accused trio took the youth towards Hingna area in an SUV. Fortunately, before the abductors could act on their further plan, Rana Pratap Nagar Police, in a swift action, rescued the youth. The accused have been identified as Rohit Rajendra Chavhan (27), a resident of SBI Colony, MIDC; Nitin Rajendra Tyagi (27), a resident of Lokmanya Nagar, MIDC, and Rajet Suresh Maurya (26), a resident of Pardhi Nagar. Police Sub-Inspector (PSI) Vasant Pawar informed the mediapersons that victim Prajwal Krishnarao Hajare (20), a resident of Flat No 9, Kashyap Apartment, Khamla, and the girl, identified as Priyanka, were ‘close friends’ and students of Standard XII at a city college.

On Thursday, at 2.30 pm, Rajat Maurya, who is Priyanka’s relative, phoned Hajare and urged him for a meeting on pretext of mortgaging gold with his uncle. Without suspecting the intention of Maurya, Hajare met him in Khamla area. Maurya, along with Tyagi and Chavhan, were in an SUV. They took Hajare towards Hingna area where they threatened him with dire consequences and asked him to snap contacts with Priyanka. After parking the SUV on roadside in Hingna area, the trio disembarked from the vehicle and asked Hajare to stay inside the SUV. Meanwhile, Hajare contacted his mother on mobile phone and narrated the incident. Hajare’s mother immediately rushed to Rana Pratap Nagar police station and alerted the police. The cops swung into action and checked location of Hajare’s mobile phone.

After confirming his location, the police team rushed towards Hingna. After spotting an SUV, the police personnel, who were in plain clothes, slowly approached the vehicle and nabbed the trio. Hajare was safe in the SUV, the police said. PSI Pawar said that Rohit Chavhan and Nitin Tyagi are history-sheeters. Police have booked the accused trio under Sections 365, 323, 504, 506 and 34 of the Indian Penal Code and started investigation.
