 City’s International Arbiters Anurag Singh (R) and Pravin Pantawane have been promoted to Category ‘C’ of International Arbiter title.

Anurag Singh and Pravin Pantawane, city’s two International arbiters, have been promoted and achieved Category ‘C’ of International Arbiter title. The title upgradation was done by FIDE (world chess federation) in the 2nd FIDE online council Meeting 2020, recently. With the title upgrade both entered joined top 60 chess professionals (Arbiters) in the country. Similarly, they also join top 10 chess arbiters of Maharashtra. The chess fraternity feels proud as these achievements will definitely give a boost the development of chess in Nagpur and Maharashtra. Anurag, who is the 4th International Arbiter from Nagpur, is currently the youngest person to hold Category ‘C’ IA title in India.
 
He as chess Arbiter in the year 2010 and later achieved the title of Fide Arbiter in 2015 followed by International Arbiter title in 2017. He has officiated in over 45 national/ international chess tournaments and Grandmaster chess competitions. Anurag is also a member of Maharashtra Arbiter Commission since 2014, becoming the youngest person to get into arbiter commission in Maharashtra. Pantawane, who is the 5th International Arbiter from Nagpur, started as chess Arbiter in 2005. He became FIDE Arbiter in 2014, and then achieved International Arbiter title in 2018.
 
He has officiated in over 45 national/international tournaments. He was also part of World Youth Chess Championship, held in Mumbai in 2019. He is also actively promoting chess in Nagpur for several years. Anurag and Pravin gave the credit for their success to their families, Nagpur District Chess Association; All Marathi Chess Association and All India Chess Federation. They also expressed their gratitude to Manoj Itkelwar, Dilip Kamdar and K K Barat for their support.
