‘Warm-up, cooling down key to avoid injuries’

WARM-UP and cool down are important to avoid injuries, said Dr Kevin Agrawal during the online session on Injury Free Sports and First Aid on Day Two of the Mahabasket Webinar, organised by various district basketball associations of Maharashtra. Agrawal gave information about first aid and how it can be used to deal with cases of injuries like wrist injury, ankle injury, knee injury or muscular injury. He also spoke on the role of a coach during an injury.
 
Agrawal during his speech highlighted the importance of warm-up and cool down. “Warm-up exercises before training and cooling down after training are important to avoid injuries,” said Agrawal. He answered several queries asked by the participants. Earlier, the session was inaugurated by Avinash Pund, Deputy Director, Sports, Nagpur Division. MO Verghese veteran basketball player and official from Mumbai was the chairman of second session.
 
Shailesh Fulsunge from Palghar introduced the Chairman and resource person to the participants. P Ramaswamy from Mumbai proposed a vote of thanks. On third day, Dr Sharad Bansode, FIBA Black License Referee will deliver lecture on Technical Aspects and Officiating philosophy of basketball. Norman Issac, Chairman Technical Committee, Basketball Federation of India will inaugurate Thursday’s session. The session was conducted by Shiv Chhatrapati Awardee and Coordinator of MahaBasket Webinar Shatrughna Gokhale.
