REQUEST for restarting sporting activities by Roller Sports Coaches Association of Nagpur (RSCAN) has been turned down by city administration, informs secretary Manish Baisware. A team of RSCAN met NMC Commissioner Tukaram Mundhe with an appeal to let them resume sporting activities as World Health Organisation and Olympic Committee have said that physical activities help in developing immunity that fights the virus.

They added that skating is a non-contact sports and allowing it with some riders would not do any harm. They also put up a point stating that when walking and cycling are allowed on road, why not skating? RSCAN also informed the authorities that skating coaches who were engaged by schools for that particular activity are not getting paid due to the lockdown and schools not being opened.

The coaches who used to make a decent earning from the sport during the summer camps have suffered a lot this year due to the pandemic. In their memorandum, RSCAN mentioned that the coaches are forced to cut down their meal to once a day. RSCAN is ready to accept even a session of 2-3 hours in the morning and are ready to follow all the instructions laid down by the authority as precautionary measures.
