Police arrest absconding accused after encounter

After a brief encounter in Ratibad area, police arrested a notorious miscreant Shekhar Lodhi on Wednesday morning. Accused opened fire on cops and in defence, cops did retaliatory firing. Accused sustained bullet injury on one of the legs and was arrested. Police said that accused Shekhar Lodhi of Cholla area is having at least 18 cases against him and he was absconding in four cases. He killed his brother-in-law in a brutal manner almost a year back.
There was specific input about movement of Shekhar Lodhi. Shekhar Lodhi was intercepted in Ratibad area. By seeing cops, Lodhi tried to flee by speeding up his bike which later collided with roadside bushes and he fell down. Soon after this, Shekhar Lodhi took cover of a wall of a private school and started to open fire through country made revolver. In defence, police also opened fire and in retaliatory firing of police, Shekhar Lodhi sustained bullet injury on one of his legs and was arrested subsequently.
Talking to ‘The Hitavada’ SP South Sai Krishna Thota told that after being arrested following brief encounter, accused Shekhar Lodhi was soon taken to hospital and now his condition is better. Ratibad SHO Sudesh Tiwari told accused Shekhar Lodhi fired six bullets on cops and in defence, police fired six rounds of bullets.
