Dr Prince became the youngest FIBA Commissioner in the world in 2012. He has officiated in many FIBA championships and currently he is acting as Secretary of Kerala State Basketball Association. Dr Prince gave valuable suggestions to the upcoming and qualified referees and participants. Concluding remarks were given by Dr John Philip who is a former player of Kerala state and a BFI referee since 1996.

He served as coach for 29 years and currently is Joint Secretary of Uttar Pradesh State Basketball Association. Dr Phillip appreciated the efforts put in by MahaBasket and congratulated the organisers for spreading the sport and explaining its rules and regulations across the length and breadth of India by making the event live on Facebook. Articles from 34 onwards were discussed in detail by Dr Sharad Bansode wherein he elaborated on personal fouls and penalties. Article 35 of FIBA Basketball Rule Book is double foul, a situation in which two opponents commit personal or unsportsmanlike/disqualifying foul on each other approximately at the same time. Article 36 says about technical foul. It’s a non-contact foul related to players, coaches, substitutes or accompanying delegation members.

Even delaying the game is also a technical foul. Article 37 is about unsportsmanlike foul. It is a hard contact foul which is not made in true spirit of the game. Article 38 tells us about the disqualifying fouls and its penalties. Any flagrant unsportsmanlike behaviour or action by players, coaches, substitutes or accompanying delegation members can result in his disqualification.

For example, fighting situation or violence or abuse. Article 39 is about fighting situation specially for the team bench members. In a fighting situation if any member of team bench rushes onto the court or enters the court he is entitled to be disqualified under this article. Articles 40 to 43 described as situation arises after five fouls by a player, team foul penalties, special situations etc. The last article taken up in the session was Article 44 that deals with correctable errors. Dr Bansode informed about the specific errors by referees which can be corrected only after the ball becoming live following the first dead ball after the error.

He also clarified that no correction is allowed once the score sheet is signed by the crew chief. On Friday, at 5.00 pm all the remaining 6 articles will be taken up and thereafter question and answer session will be held. All the participants are getting a link on their Whatsapp group daily after the completion of each session. They have to solve 10 questions and 20 minutes are given to them. As soon as the participants submit the link they are getting the marks scored by them and the correct answers of all the questions so that they can evaluate themselves. A full fledged online examination will be conducted on Sunday. Shatrughna Gokhale, Shiv Chhatrapati Awardee and coordinator of the MahaBasket conducted the proceedings. Dr Parveen Kumar and Dr Amit Tembhurne looked after the technical support.
