Youth axes five of his family to death

IN a spine chilling incident, an insane youth brutally axed as many as five members of his family, including parents
and siblings to death, following a dispute at village Matiyari, some 20 kilometres away from the district headquarters on Friday.
 
After committing the crime, the accused too committed suicide by jumping in front of a speeding trailer. Sipat Police under whose jurisdiction the area comes, have taken possession of the bodies and sent them for autopsy. Police have registered an offence and started investigations.
 
According to information received from Station House Officer (SHO) of Sipat Police Station Mansingh Rathia, the accused identified as 22-year old Roshan Suryavanshi of Matiyari also committed suicide after the incident. He was reportedly mentally sick and an alcoholic as well. He very often reached home in inebriated state late in the night and created nuisance in the family.
 
Despite being objected by his parents and siblings, he didn’t give up alcoholism which was the root cause of dispute in the family. Though he was mentally sick, he worked in a factory to eke out his livelihood. After lockdown, he became unemployed due to which he had been in depression since last few days.
 
Police sources further informed that late Thursday night he returned home tipsy and had another round of heated exchange of words with the family members before everyone retired to bed.
 
At wee hours on Friday when the family members were in deep sleep, he brutally axed his father Roopdas Suryavanshi (45), mother Santoshibai Suryavanshi (40), brothers Rohit Suryavanshi (20) and Rishi Suryavanshi (15) and sister Kamini Suryavanshi (14) to death. His minor cousin who was also sleeping inside the house however managed to save his life. He went straight to his house in the same village and informed his parents.
 
The accused after committing the crime also ended his life by jumping in front of a speeding loaded trailer. On receiving information, Sipat Police reached the spot and took possession of the bodies and sent them for autopsy. Police also recorded the statements of the eye witness. Police have registered an offence and started further investigations in the case.
