2,500 police personnel keep vigil on Day 1 of lockdown

 Policemen sending back those roaming unnecessarily on road as a 10-day lockdown is in force in State capital.

Nearly 2,500 cops remained deployed on more than 162 spots in State capital to ensure stern compliance of the lockdown imposed to contain the coronavirus. Atotal of 51 people were arrested and sixteen vehicles were confiscated by Bhopal Police for violation of Section 144 untill 6pm on Saturday. Notably, a 10-day lockdown was enforced in Bhopal in the wake of alarming rise of COVID-19 cases.
 
More than 2,000 cases coming to the fore only in Bhopal since Unlock, within 20 days, forced the Government as well as the administration to impose a lockdown and stop the further spread of the virus. DIG Irshad Wali told ‘The Hitavada’ that continuous patrolling was being done across the city to ensure that nobody comes out of their house unnecessarily.
 
Also, those found roaming unnecessarily were either sent back home or a fine was imposed on them, Wali added. The DIG also said that cops were vigilant on at least 162 points in Bhopal and 12 outers points were barricaded to restrict entry of outsiders.
