R SHIVASUBRAMANIAM clinched his second online blitz chess title while Ashwin Gurbani was suspended for taking help of computer by the organisers during the 10th edition of the Online Blitz Chess Tournament. The weekly competition was organised by Nagpur District Chess Association (NDCA) through the platform of lichess.org. Shivasubramaniam collected 7.5 points to top the table after nine rounds. Rookie Gurbani, who had finished second with seven points, was found to be taking help of computer during the 10th round of the competition.

After checking his games, the arbiters decided to snatch his second position and promote Nilay Kulkarni, who had finished third, to second. In the updated list, Jayesh Sure secured third position with 6.5 points. “We have warned Gurbani and will not allow him to participate in next four tournaments,” said International Arbiter Pravin Pantawane.

On his way to title, Shivasubramanian registered five straight wins followed by a draw and then another couple of wins. He lost his only game, ninth and final round to Gurbani. Shivasubramanian, who had won the fourth edition, defeated veteranVK Shrivastav, Kaustav Barat, Nitish Rathi, Aditya Bodkhe and Sumedh Ramteke.

In the sixth round, Shivasubramanian split point with seventh edition winner Arush Chitre. Shiva then recorded wins against Nilay Kulkarni and Shraddha Bajaj before going easy against Gurbani and gifting the match. Second placed Kulkarni registered six wins and a draw.
