‘Referees should be well-versed with latest rules, regulations’

FIBA Black Licencee Dr Sharad Bansode from Kolhapur briefed the participants on Technical Aspects and Officiating Philosophy of Basketball during the online session of the Mahabasket Webinar, organised by various district basketball associations of Maharashtra on Thursday. On third day of the Webinar, Dr Bansode in his online presentation stressed that the referee should be well conversant with the latest rules and regulations, upgrade himself with the changes and must have knowledge of basic philosophy of the basketball. Dr Bansode also demonstrated with the help of slides and videos exact sanctions to be given in case of violations and also neglect a few of them to keep the flow of the game intact.
 
He also made it clear that referee is a facilitator for both the teams. Earlier, the session was inaugurated by Norman Issac, Chairman, Basketball Federation of India who also extended best wishes to the participants. Shiv Chhatrapati Awardee, Professor Madav Shejul, Parbhani, was chairman of the session. Professor Anant Pande from Yavatmal introduced the chairman as well as the resource person to the participants. Manjit Sing Daroga, Aurangabad proposed a vote of thanks.
 
Shiv Chhatrapati Awardee and Coordinator of MahaBasket Webinar Shatrughna Gokhale conducted the proceedings. Dr Amit Tembhurne and Dr Praveen Kumar controlled the technical part of the Webinar. On Friday, Dr Meghana Kumare, Dietician and Nutritionist will deliver lecture on ‘Nutrition of Basketball Players’.
