BJP again corners Govt over liquor ban issue

RAIPUR, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has alleged that from the recent statement made by Excise Minister Kawasi Lakhma on liquor, it has exposed the Congress game-plan on implementation of total liquor prohibition. Terming the recent statement by the Excise Minister that the State Government is mulling the idea of imposing complete liquor ban ahead of next Assembly elections, BJP State Spokesperson Sanjay Srivastava has stated that it is open treachery on the public who had voted the Congress to power because it had promised complete liquor ban in the state in its election manifesto.
 
The statement of the Excise Minister has exposed the ruling Congress government’s malicious intentions. The BJP State Spokesperson stated that the ruling Congress Government never had intentions of implementing complete liquor prohibition instead, its malicious intention was to run illicit liquor trade by shamefully cheating the people in State. Through this illicit liquor trade the ruling Congress is filling its coffers alleged BJP spokesperson while adding that had the ruling Congress been worried about public exchequer, it wouldn’t have allowed illicit liquor trade to the tune of 30 per cent of total liquor trade in State. Due to this illicit liquor trade the state exchequer in incurring huge losses. BJP spokesperson stated that the ruling Congress government should clarify about the statement given by its Excise Minister.
 
Whether the State Government has intentions of destroying the people on health, family, socially and economically, he asked. The BJP spokesperson further alleged that the Excise Minister has also tried to insult the work force in the state through his statement. He said that women in State are continuously demonstrating demanding liquor prohibition in State. Due to liquor criminal cases have increased manifold, particularly crime against women has been flooded in State. Srivastava asked the Chief Minister to issue clarification whether he agrees with the statement given by the Excise Minister.
