Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel held a meeting with Cabinet ministers and senior Congress leaders at Chief Minister’s House on Thursday to finalise the names for political appointments in boards, corporations and commissions. The names of the Congress leaders for political appointments in boards, commissions and corporations were discussed in detail in the meeting. Besides it, discussions for the appointment of parliamentary secretary were also held in detail in the meeting. Talking to mediapersons after the meeting, Agriculture Minister Ravindra Choubey said that the names of the Congress leaders for political appointments in boards, corporations and commissions have been finalised and the list of the selected Congress leaders will be sent to the Congress high command for the final approval.

Discussions regarding the appointments of parliamentary secretaries were also held in the meeting. The remaining works of the party’s manifesto in the 2018 assembly elections were also discussed in the meeting, Choubey added. Speaker of Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly Dr Charan Das Mahant, Chhattisgarh Pradesh Congress Committee (CPCC) President Mohan Markam, Home Minister Tamradhwaj Sahu, Agriculture Minister Ravindra Choubey, Forest Minister Mohammad Akbar, Urban Administration and Development Minister Dr Shiv Kumar Dahariya, School Education Minister Dr Premsai Singh Tekam, Culture Minister Amarjeet Bhagat, Women and Child Development Minister Anila Bhedia, Public Health and Engineering Department Minister Guru Rudra Kumar, Industry Minister Kawasi Lakhma, Raipur Rural MLA Satyanarayan Sharma and Abhanpur MLA Dhanendra Sahu were present on the occasion.

CPCC Vice-President Girish Dewangan, Treasurer Ramgopal Agrawal, CPCC’s Communication Department Chairman Shailesh Nitin Trivedi, Kiranmayi Nayak, Ajay Sahu, Sushil Anand Shukla, Shiv Singh Thakur, Ramesh Warlyani, Vikas Tiwari and other Congress leaders are among the some of the top contenders for the Boards, Corporations and Commission. It may be mentioned that after 18 months of Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel government, only three political appointments have been made by the government and this has disillusioned some of the Congress leaders who are eagerly waiting to get an appointment. According to the official sources, there are around 24 Commissions, 9 Boards and over 6 Corporations in the state where the political appointments are yet to be made.
