 Butterfly Park at Van Vihar National Park which was inaugurated on Wednesday.

Marking International Tiger Day, Van Vihar National Park organised online programme with the help of Madhya Pradesh Tiger Foundation Society (MPTFS) on Wednesday. On the occasion, State Forest Minister Vijay Shah raised the curtain for newly-developed Butterfly Park at Van Vihar. The park was being developed to attract tourist for past one year. As the park remained closed due to lockdown, programme was held through live streaming on Facebook page and YouTube channels.
 
A documentary filmed on wildlife conservation was displayed during the programme and annual report of various tiger reserves was also presented. The Butterfly Park was abandoned at Van Vihar for two years and then during March 2019, decision was taken to redevelop the park for attracting tourist. Ashok Jain, Deputy Director, Van Vihar said that many visitors were disappointed after the park was closed in lack of host plants, winged friends.
 
He said that subject experts were called to redevelop the park with plantation that help in butterfly nesting. A 200 square feet of area was already identified and covered for development of the park. He said that the Butterfly Park will help to increase tourist footfall post lockdown. There are several species of butterflies in the park and their nesting would increased by manifold during winters.
