A PERSON may just be a statistic in the world, but he is the world for his children. The loss of his father just two days before a milestone exam did not shake the determination of Harsh Tilochand Kaley, who scored 96.40 per cent marks (best of five subjects) in the State Secondary School Certificate exam, results for which were declared on Wednesday. A student of Pt Bachcharaj Vyas Vidyalaya, Harsh, while talking to ‘The Hitavada’, said, “It was my father’s dream.

He was suffering from multiple illnesses since last 2 years. He wanted me to be an IITian and also crack the MPSC.” Tilochand Kaley breathed his last on February 29, and on March 3, Harsh appeared for his first paper. Being the only son, with two elder sisters Chetna and Bhagyashree, both doing jobs, Harsh had to perform all funeral rituals till 14 days and appear for exams also. “On March 12, I had to appear for my Maths - 2 exam and perform ‘Choudhavi’ rituals also. I felt ill but had to appear for the paper on 14th too. Support of my mother and two sisters helped me fulfill all responsibilities,” he added.

Regular studies and guidance of family and teachers made Harsh perform better despite such a huge loss. “My score came down, but it is the first step towards fulfilling my father’s dream of becoming IITian and cracking MPSC. I will be taking Science and will further pursue Engineering in IIT,” said a determined Harsh. Sharing his success mantra, he shared that consistency and regular studies are a must. Mother Manda and sisters, Chetna and Bhagyashree could not control their emotions on Harsh doing well in the exams. In voices choked with emotions, they added that, they were with him, to make their father’s dream come true.
