After passing the higher secondary examination with flying colours, students get wings to pursue their future by taking subject of their choice. But most of the students face pressure from parents to take subject of their choice. Sometime, such undue pressure leaves students appalled. Now such students have started to approach Madhya Pradesh Board of Secondary Education (MPBSE) counselling helpline, seeking proper guidance what they should do.

A higher secondary pass out girl, who aspires to become a lawyer, but her parents want her to become a doctor and unduly pressure her to choose medical field which is not of her interest. This was the case which was addressed by the counsellor of the Madhya Pradesh Board of Secondary Education (MPBSE) counselling helpline.

MPBSE Helpline Counsellor Shivani Sarkar told ‘The Hitavada’ that “This is the time when students have to choose streams and fields for their future and the helpline is receiving a number of such cases when the students are in dilemma whether they should choose field of their interest or go as per wishes of parents. Maximum number of parents wants their children to become a doctor or high rank officers. Average performers are mostly facing parental pressure in choosing career. We are counselling parents to understand the interest of their children and every stream has good future”.
