Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has decided to resort to burn the electricity bills on August 1, in front of all 32 sub-stations in the city. “Energy Minister had himself announced to give relaxation in power bills on the lines of Delhi and Madhya Pradesh.
 
However, instead, people have received inflated power bills for lockdown period,” said Pravin Datke, BJP city chief and MLC. As a mark of protest against inflated power bills, BJP will burn the inflated bills in front of all 32 sub-stations of Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited on August 1. Datke was addressing a meeting of BJP legislators and circle chiefs from the city, at Mangalam Tower, Ganeshpeth here on Thursday.
 
Sandip Joshi, Mayor; Girish Vyas and Prof Anil Sole, MLCs; Krishna Khopde, Vikas Kumbhare, Mohan Mate, MLAs; Sanjay Chaudhary, Sanjay Awchat, Vinod Kanhere, Kishor Palandurkar, Kishor Wankhede, Bhojraj Dumbe, Sunil Mitra were present in the meeting. Meanwhile, Khopde stated in a separate press release that BJP East Nagpur unit would burn the electricity bills in front of Subhan Nagar, Shanti Nagar, Chinteshwar, Gangabai Ghat, Wardhaman Nagar, Chhapru Nagar, Hiwari Nagar sub-stations on August 1.
