The Chhattisgarh Government has distributed only 6.9 per cent of the total allocation of rice under the ‘Atma Nirbhar Bharat’ (ANB) Scheme, said Raosaheb Patil Danve, Union Minister of State for Consumer Affairs, Food and Public distribution, Government of India. Accusing State Government of not focusing on the distribution of the rice given by the Central Government under the ‘Atma Nirbhar Bharat’ (ANB) scheme, Danve said, “The State Government must work tirelessly in ensuring the food security of the people in State. Chhattisgarh Government distributing only 6.19% of the total allocation only reflects its inefficiency of governance in State leading to a major inconvenience to the people.”

Danve further added, “Regardless of which political party is in power, the government amidst the current times of COVID pandemic must work rising above politics to ensure food security to everyone,” added Danve, while assuring complete assistance to the State Government in this process during the present time of crisis. Under ANB scheme, the Government of India had allocated a total of 20,077 metric tonne of food grains for the state of Chhattisgarh. However, the State Government has so far distributed only 1,244 Metric tonne to people which amounts to only 6.19% of the total allocation.
