State Forest Minister Kunwar Vijay Shah took a meeting of forest officials at State Forest Research Institute (SFRI) and reviewed the progress of departmental schemes, on Thursday. During the review, he said there should not be any hindrance in departmental work. Shah said till new recruitment is not completed, departmental officers and employees who have retired and who are under 65 years of age and not involved in economic offences, departmental investigations or other cases and are physically and mentally fit, can be allowed to continue in service for one or two years.
 
He also asked to fill vacancies for forest scientists quickly. Shah said the SFRI has to be brought in the top institutes of the country. He directed to take five-day refresher course of SDO, Ranger, Deputy Ranger and Vanpal once in a year in Jabalpur, Amarkantak, Balaghat and Betul. He also asked to include sports, meditation, yoga and music along with departmental information in refresher course.
 
Shah said forest should be linked with education and for that the department must apprise children of plantation and proper protection of plants, trees by arranging programmes in villages. He asked to develop such technology that the trees will flourish in shortest time. Shah emphasized the need of preservation of forest for coming generation. He asked officials to motivate people to plantation.
