CHESS Arbiter Deepak Chavan became sixth International Arbiter from Nagpur after he cleared the FIDE Arbiter examination and received the FIDE Arbiter title recently. Chavan received the title during the 2nd FIDE Online Council Meeting. Chavan successfully cleared FIDE Arbiter exam in November 2016 and got the FIDE Arbiter Title in Presidential Board by written resolution in 2017. He performed as an Arbiter in many national and international chess championships in different parts of India.
 
Chavan completed all four norms required to become an International Arbiter at international chess tournaments. He achieved the norms in World Youth Chess Championship at Mumbai, Udaipur Grandmaster Chess Tournament and National Team Chess Championship at Ahmedabad, Gujarat. Chavan gives the credit of his success to members of Nagpur District Chess Association, All Marathi Chess Association.
 
He also thanked Swapnil Bansod, International Arbiter for his technical guidance and Sagar Ingle. Chavan is currently working as a Assistant Engineer in Khaperkheda Thermal Power Station of MAHAGENCO (MSPGCL). Members of Nagpur District Chess Association congratulated Chavan for his success and wished him a bright future.
