C’garh continues top spot in minor forest produce collection

Chhattisgarh continues to hold numero uno position in the collection of minor forest produce in the country as it completes its annual collection target in six months only. The collection of minor forest produce in State has gained momentum and in the current season, State is leading in comparison to other states. Accordingly, State has crossed its annual target of collecting minor forest produce which is approximately Rs 100 crore in merely six months and has collected minor forest produce worth Rs 105 crore till date. As per the figures released by Tribal Cooperative Marketing Development Federation Of India Limited (TRIFED), Chhattisgarh has collected 46,039 MT minor forest produce worth Rs 104.74 crore till July 4, 2020, which is highest among all states in the country.
 
Till June 27, 2020, the State had collected 71,582 MT minor forest produce worth Rs 76 crore and during the last one week it had collected 14,458 MT minor forest produce worth Rs 29 crore. Similarly, the other states in the country have so far collected 64,963 MT minor forest produce worth Rs 140 crore, which includes 13,367 MT worth Rs 28 crore by Odisha, 4,769 MT worth Rs 2.26 crore by Telangana and 196 MT worth Rs 1.73 crore by Gujarat. Similarly, 232 MT worth Rs 82 lakh by Madhya Pradesh, 33 MT worth Rs 61 lakh by Jharkhand, 96MT worth Rs 53 lakh by Andhra Pradesh, 47 MT worth Rs 27 lakh by Assam, 95 MT worth Rs 26 lakh by West Bengal, 11 MT worth Rs 24 lakh by Karnataka, 71 MT worth Rs 20 lakh by Maharashtra and 6 MT worth Rs 6 lakh by Rajasthan.
 
It is worth mentioning here that in the current financial year, minor forest produce including tamarind (with seed), puwad (charota), mahuwa fruit (dry), beheda, harra, kalmegh, dhawai flower (dry), nagarmotha, imli flower, karanj seed, honey, bel pulp, awanla, rangini lac, kusumi lac, phul jhadu, chiraunji, kullu gum, mahua seed, kanch seed, jamun seed, saal seed, baybading, giloy, bhelwa, etc are being procured under Minimum Support Price in Chhattisgarh.
