Crime Branch of Nagpur Police on Monday arrested wife of Shiv Sena’s suspended City Chief Mangesh Kadao in an extortion case registered at Sakkardara police station. Fifth criminal offence was also registered against Mangesh Kadao at Sitabuldi police station on Monday. However, Kadao is still absconding. First case was registered against Kadao last week for demanding extortion of Rs 25 lakh. The case was registered by Ambazari police for stealing material from the house of Vikram Madhukar Labhe’s bungalow at Puranic Layout in Bharat Nagar.
 
After that, Sakkarada police registered a case of extortion against Kadao for threatening to kill Devanand Shirke, a builder from Sakkarada, and demanding Rs 20 lakh to him. Similarly, a case of fraud was registered against Kadao and his wife in a case of Amariva apartment, Manewada. Soon after, Vikas Ramkrishna Chaudhary (44), a resident of Kasturba Layout, Bajajnagar, registered a case of Rs 1.5 lakh with Bajaj Nagar police last Wednesday. Fifth case was registered against Kadao for duping a youth to the tune of Rs 6 lakh on pretext of providing him job as a TTE in the railways.
 
After registration of first offence, Ruchita Kadao complained of chest pain and admitted at VIMS Hospital in Sadar area. She was arrested by a team of Crime Branch on Monday after she was discharged from the hospital. Mangesh Kadao is still absconding and police have launched hunt for his arrest. A Mercedes car, BMW car and a Harley-Davidson belonging to him were seized by the police. Ruchita Kadao will be produced in the court on Tuesday.
 
Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Gajanan Rajmane informed ‘The Hitavada’ that five new compalints against Kadao are being investigated. Kadao was in contact with his wife on WhatsApp. “We have also started procedure to seize bank accounts in the name of Kadao couple. Request letters have been written to various banks in the city in this regard,” he informed.
