Teenager loses Rs 73,404 while purchasing mobile phone from Amazon app

On-line fraudsters duped a 16-year-old boy to the tune of Rs 73,404 when the boy was purchasing a mobile phone from Amazon mobile application, said Aroli police. Sanket Sunil Adgulkar, a resident of Aroli village opened Amazon app on his mobile phone and selected a mobile phone worth Rs 15,999 on June 28. He made the payment through Debit card but it failed.
 
He performed second transaction the same day and Rs 12,899 were debited from his bank account. Next day, unidentified on-line fraudsters withdrew Rs 1.12 lakh from his bank account. Of them, Rs 38,998 was refunded to his bank account. On the basis of a complaint given by his mother Shilpa Sunil Adgulkar (40), a resident of Aroli, the police have registered the case under Sections 420 of Indian Penal Code read with Section 66 (e) of Information Technology Act. Further investigation is on.
