Coaches should focus more on demonstration: Kshatriya

Kshatriya gave key tips to coaches regarding punctuality, player’s assessment, dress code, placement of bags, and use of teaching aids 
 
COACHES should focus on demonstration rather than wasting time in explanation, said Rajesh Kshatriya, chief basketball coach of Government of Maharashtra Sports Department during the online session on Day-Six of the MahaBasket Webinar, organised by various district basketball associations of Maharashtra. He spoke on the importance of training sessions and how to manage them. Kshatriya gave important tips to coaches regarding punctuality, player’s assessment, dress code, placement of bags, use of teaching aids, creating interest in players, dividing and training players according to age, and gender, NOC, medical certificates, avoiding mobiles etc. During the speech he urged coaches to focus more on demonstration rather than explanation.
 
“Explanation must be 10 per cent, demonstration 20 per cent and repetition must be 70 per cent,” said Kshatriya. “Coaches must also incorporate progressive methods of teaching,” he added. Kshatriya, who hails from Nashik insisted that coaches must be disciplined and friendly with the players. Vijay Santan, Deputy Director, Pune Division and member of Maharashtra Olympic Association inaugurated the session and gave his best wishes.
 
Captain Lous George Meprath, FIBA Level III Coach, Mumbai was the Chairman of the session. Dr Manoj Reddy, Latur introduced the Chairman as well as the resource person. Rakesh Maheshwari of Wardha proposed a vote of thanks. Shiv Chhatrapati Awardee and Coordinator of MahaBasket Shatrughna Gokhale conducted the proceedings. Dr Amit Tembhurne and Dr Praveen Kumar supervised the technical aspect of the Webinar.
