Maharashtra Government seems confused about the unlocking move as directive issued on Tuesday about increasing working hours plus seven days week created confusion in trade and business circle. One part of the order was welcomed by the trade, as Government has extended the timing of business by further two hours. Now commercial establishments in non-essential category can keep their shops open upto 7 pm. In earlier circular issued on June 30, the State had capped working of shops till 5 pm only.

The change in timing of the shops would come into effect from July 9 onwards stated the order issued by Chief Secretary Sanjay Kumar. The latest order failed to bring much cheer as though State Government said shops can now be kept open on all seven days the restriction of P-1/P-2 rule was kept intact. So in way there is not much change in the latest directive barring increasing the working hours of the establishments by two hours. By continuing to exercise restraint through alternate day functioning, the businesspersons said the excitement has fizzed out.

Markets are struggling to return to normalcy as demand remain muted as alternate day functioning is not helping much in driving-up sales. Alternate day functioning has dented the prospects of businesses as it also put customers in a fix. While State machinery wants to avoid crowding in markets but what if people are forced to make repeated forays to complete their tasks.
