A team of Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) nabbed a Police Sub-Inspector (PSI) attached to Ajni police station, red-handed when he was accepting Rs one lakh in cash as bribe from a man. The accused PSI was identified as Rajeshsingh Keshavsingh Thakur (56). An ACB official informed ‘The Hitavada’ that the complainant is a resident of Borkar Nagar, Bara Signal Road, and working as parcel contractor with Railways. He met one Nitin Narnawre and decided to purchase his residential plot situated at Shatabdi Chowk. Both entered into an ‘agreement to sale’ on September 9, 2019.

However, the plot was encroached by a scrap-dealer identified as Gopal Singh. When Thakur asked him to vacate the place, Gopal Singh had picked a quarrel with him. On the basis of complaint lodged by Gopal Singh, a case under Sections 452, 448, 323, 427, 504, 149, 143, 144 and 147 of the Indian Penal Code was registered against the complainant in the ACB case, at Ajni Police Station.

During investigation, PSI Thakur demanded Rs three lakh bribe to make the plot encroachment-free. Immediately, the complainant approached the ACB office and registered a complaint against PSI Thakur. Soon after, the complainant talked with PSI Thakur and fixed the deal at Rs one lakh.

The ACB officials laid a trap accordingly and arrested PSI Thakur when he was accepting the cash at Shatabdi Chowk on Wednesday. An offence under provisions of the Prevention of Corruption Act was registered at Ajni police station against PSI Rajeshsingh Thakur. Under the guidance of Superintendent of Police (ACB) Rashmi Nandedkar, Addl SP Rajesh Duddhalwar, the arrest was made by Police Inspector Yogita Chafale, Monali Choudhary and staff, including Ravikant Dahat, Mangesh Kalambe, Laxman Parteti, Asmita Meshram, and driver Wakil Sheikh.
