The eco-tourism centre is being developed by Forest Department (Territorial), Nagpur. Adasa temple will be connected with biodiversity park through nature trail as well. The objectives of the plan are to provide an alternate tourism site near Nagpur city, develop a centre for nature education to tourists, students, youths and generate livelihood opportunities for locals. The inter eco-tourism site will be run through local self-help group and Joint Forest Management Committee at Adasa. Giving information about the project, Dr Prabhu Nath Shukla, Deputy Conservator of Forest, Nagpur, said that the work of building for interpretation centre, involving an expenditure of Rs 1.85 crore was completed.

The work displaying exhibits in the interpretation centre costing Rs 1.50 crore has received administrative approval under district plan. As Adasa is famous for Lord Ganesh, the central theme of interpretation centre is elephant. The centre will have six rooms dedicated to introduction, behavior, habitat, distribution of elephants and conservation issues, he added. Moreover, the work of exhibits at the centre is being planned to be executed through Centre for Environment Education, Ahmedabad in Guajrat, which is the centre of excellence under the Ministry of Environment, Forests and Climate Change. The work will begin after getting government sanction, he pointed out. Dr Shukla said, one of the attractions at the eco-tourism centre will be adventure park to get thrilling experiences to tourists.

The park will have facilities like sky walk, vertical erection, high rope course, low rope course, zip line, wall climbing, jogging etc. The estimated cost of this park would be around Rs 1.50 crore. Moreover, Rs 25 lakh would be spent on preparing nature trail, informative boards etc at the site. The proposed plantation at the biodiversity park, one of the components of the centre, is based on ‘Panchvati’ theme. The watering to the plants will be done through drip irrigation and it is proposed to have chain-link fencing along with nature trail and sitting zone. The department has also proposed to construct a ‘machaan’ (wooden structure) in the park from where one can see glimpses of Lord Ganesh in sanctum sanctorum directly. The eco-tourism centre is expected to be completed in six months, Dr Shukla said.
