CID arrests fraudster Kishore Thakre

Criminal Investigation Department (CID) arrested fraudster Kishore Thakre for his alleged involvement in Rs 145 crore scam of Samta Co-operative Bank in year 2007. A CID official informed that Thakre was absconding after registration of the offence at Sitabuldi police station. A total of 57 accused persons were involved in the scam and the CID has arrested 53 accused so far.
 
Thakre in connivance with Pramod Manmode had floated two bogus firm and defrauded the bank after borrowing loan loan of Rs 1.60 crore, said CID official. Thakre was Managing Director of Samruddhi Savings and Investment Company. A total of 7.18 ha agriculture land at Pendhri was owned by the company. Thakre colluding with Manmode furnished a bogus sale dead of the land. The two had forged documents in the names of bank’s employees Digrase, Malwe, Dhudhane, Kamdi and floted two bogus firms - Akash Developers and Sagar Developers.
 
They had also roped in Samta Sahkari Bank’s MD Pradip Choudhary and Branch Manager Sanjay Deshpande for the alleged scam. The accused had opened bogus bank accounts in the names of Akash Developers and Sagar Developers. Loans worth Rs 80 lakh was borrowed from the bank in the names of the firms and defrauded the bank, informed CID officials.
 
During scrutiny of investigation of pending cases, ADG CID Atul Kulkarni directed CID officials for immediate arrest of absconding accused. Soon after, the CID officials arrested Thakre on July 27. He was produced in the court and the court remanded him to five days police custody.
