In a major breakthrough, District Excise Department seized 72 crates of English liquor and 60 crates of country-made liquor costing Rs 7.20 lakh, a truck and two cars and arrested a driver, on Friday. During the campaign, acting on a tip-off, a team led by Excise Control Room in-charge, G L Maravi started a search in Circle-1B Vijay Nagar and checked a truck (MP 20 GA 6454) parked near house number C3/10. In the search, team found 65 crates of English liquor and 40 crates of country-made liquor but no one was threre with the truck. In further search, excise personnel found a Suzuki Eco Van (MP 15 CA 3662) near house number C3/10 in abandoned condition and found 12 crates of country-made liquor in the car. In the search of house, excise team seized 7 crates of country-made liquor.
 
Meanwhile, excise team received information that a Hyundai Accent car coming from Katni side was carrying illegal stock. Acting on the information, excise team started a search and stopped the identified car near Katangi by-pass numbered AP-10CA-1212 and seized 7 crates of foreign liquor and arrested the driver, Rakesh Pradhan. District Excise Department registered a case under Section 34(1) and 34(2) of Madhya Pradesh Excise Act while further investigations are underway.
 
Excise team was comprised of Assistant Excise Officer, Rajesh Choudhary, Head Constables, Narendra Uike, Neklal Bagri, Ramesh Kushram and Constables, Rakesh Jadon and Anurag Sharma.

Manager of IIFL, informed that on July 10, he reached home in the evening and went to market with his wife and child. He reached home late in the night and went to sleep. In the intervening night, he learnt that wife of his elder brother committed suicide by hanging herself from ceiling of a room in the house.
 
Investigating the case, police found a suicide note in which the deceased had mentioned the names of Nandini and Sakshi Tiwari and her handwriting was cross-matched. On the basis of suicide note, police registered a case under Sections 306 and 34 of the IPC and arrested the accused in-laws for mental harassment of deceased for property dispute.
