‘Co-op Banks ready to lend Rs 100 cr to women SHGs’

AMRAVATI, DISTRICT Co-operative Bank has shown readiness to provide funds up to Rs 100 crore for credit to women’s self help groups for women empowerment in the district. Accordingly, Women’s Development Financial Corporation will provide financial assistance to women self-help groups for industry and businesses, announced Adv Yashomati Thakur, Women and Child Development Minister and Guardian Minister of the District.
 
Thakur was addressing the programme to review progress of Self-help groups organised by Mahila Economic Development Corporation, Disha Project and Maher Lok run Saadhan Kendra at Dhamangaon Katpur in Morshi tehsil. Sunil Sode, District Coordinating Officer, Rekha Wankhade, former Sapranch, Archana Khandekar along with women members of various groups and villagers were present on the occasion. Addressing further, Adv Thakur said that through self help groups, efforts are being made to provide permanent employment to women. For this, Mahila Arthik Vikas Mahamandal’s saving groups have been asked to get an interest-free loan of Rs 10 lakh.
 
For this, follow up is being done at the government level. Similarly, in Amravati District, a scheme of Rs 100 crore is being given shape in collaboration with the District Co-operative Bank. After that, such an initiative will be implemented in every district of the State, informed Adv Thakur. “Positive steps are being taken for women empowerment by empowering SHGs. Women are backbone of the family and eventually the society. Therefore, new initiatives and schemes are being undertaken to empower women,” she said. She also said that plans are being made to strengthen Women’s Economic Development Corporation. She further stressed that various success stories are coming up through Disha project.
 
Many women have created a world from scratch through self-help groups. Goat distribution programme has also been undertaken under Goat Farm at Tarkheda. Adv Thakur also interacted with the members of the SHGs. The development process has not stopped as various measures are being implemented during the Corona crisis, she said adding that the massive schemes and initiatives have also been planned for the empowerment of women. Adv Thakur also distributed financial assistance checks through the project. She also inaugurated the Pink Bollwarm Awareness Campaign by flagging off the ‘Krishiratha’. The programme was conducted by Khandekar while Rishikesh Ghar proposed a vote of thanks.
