MAHABASKET Referees’ Development Programme will be taken up by the Organisers of MahaBasket — an association of various district basketball associations of Maharashtra. After the successful organisation of six days Webinar followed by referees’ clinic where more than 200 referees and aspirants participated, MahaBasket has decided to further extend the clinic with MahaBasket Referees’ Development Programme. It is designed to develop the knowledge and skills of qualified referees as well as non-qualified referees and also to promote referees in Maharashtra, informed Shiv Chhatrapati Awardee Shatrughna Gokhale who is Coordinator MahaBasket.

To make the members 100 per cent perfect on basketball rules, MahaBasket has planned a series of steps which will enhance the knowledge of each one of them and prepare for final examination. The participants are from the different districts of the state and even from taluka level in some districts. We appreciate their sincerity and eagerness to learn more n more about rules of basketball. Following prodedures will be undertaken in the during the programme: n MahaBasket is going to open up the whatsapp group of registered referees/participants for open discussions on the set of articles of rule book. n No forward messages or good morning etc will be allowed in the group.

Even news related to basketball will not be allowed in the group. n Only questions and opinions on the particular set of articles to be discussed will be allowed. n Set of articles, that is Article 1 to Article 12 and so on will be decided on every Monday. Members can send questions, opinions or can discuss the articles in the group from Monday to Friday. On Saturday every MahaBasket will conduct preparatory exams on the same set of articles. n On Sunday marks will be released on candidates’ e-mails. And next Monday further articles will be taken up till next Friday. n This way the group members can have discussions, debates, questions & answers on each article which will make everybody perfect and clear of their perceptions and interpretation of rules before giving the final examination.

n It is expected that in this way all the articles will be completed within next 6 to 8 weeks. A final examination can be held in the month of September. After conducting fitness test and practical examination of each candidate, which will be held at his/her own district in October-November as and when playgrounds are opened up for playing, the final result, gradation and certificate will be given depending upon overall performance — in preparatory exams and the final examination, Those who have not registered and still want to be part of this programme can contact Rakesh Maheshwari for registration process.
