With incessant rain drenching the State capital, eight sluice gates of Kaliyasot Dam and about five gates of Bhadbhada Dam were opened on Sunday as well. Chief Engineer Bhopal Municipal Corporation (BMC) water works A K Pawar said that water level is being monitored continuously and accordingly decision is being taken.

Eight gates of Kolar Dam were closed today by 8 am. Since afternoon little respite from rain showers is being witnessed and chances are there that two of the sluice gates will be closed by evening. Bhopal Municipal Corporation officials are monitoring the Upper Lake water level which has registered Full Tank Level (FTL) capacity of 1666.80 ft and also ensuring proper outlet of rainy water from different areas. Sluice gates of Bhadbhada Dam of Upper Lake were opened on August 29 following a rise in water levels, Bhopal Municipal Corporation (BMC) commissioner K V S Choudhary said.

Preparations were already taken by Bhopal Municipal Corporation (BMC) and if incessant rains continued throughout then further decision will be taken to open sluice gates of Kolar. NDRF and SDRF teams are in alert mode and they have been deployed in low lying areas.
