Cotton handloom fabric is receiving tremendous demand in the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic period for making of preventive accessories like cotton masks, towels, bed sheets and other items. The handloom production has regained demand. In recent development, power loom and handloom cotton production has been initiated in city at Khadi Gramodyog under different schemes launched by the Union Government and State Government. According to the government schemes, handloom has been scheduled in traditional craftsmanship amidst priority sectors.
 
The call of local production as per initiative taken by Prime Minister Narendra Modi under Atmanirbhar Bharat Abhiyan can generate series of employment. Seema Swami, President of Jabali Khadi Ewam GramUodyog Prounnati Samiti opined that Madhya Pradesh, being a leading producer of cotton, can be hub for first hand processing of cotton products like thread making, weaving, etc.
 
In prevailing circumstances, when government is supporting indigenous production and cotton fabric is in demand, it is right time to engage more and more people in the related work.
