Every year after Rabi and Kharif season harvest, a huge stock of grains is gutted due to shortage of warehousing and storage facilities following change of weather conditions. Even this year, despite scattered rains which have been much below than the average at various centres, the storage of grains in open caps has caused damage to agro produce stock.

Paddy, wheat, gram, pulses and oil seeds, vegetables and fruits stocks got damaged following inadequate infrastructure. In previous month, the procurement work was delayed in schedule due to lockdown to cut the pandemic COVID-19 spread. But thereafter due to delay in transportation and arrival of rains damage was caused while after that the damage caused in cap storage ruined the stock and that became not fit for human and animal consumption.

On one side, the Union and State Governments are paying attention towards development of rural infrastructure to prevent losses under Atmanirbhar Abhiyan by enhancing participation of farmers and their families has launched various schemes for MSME in food processing, allied farming works. The concept of small warehouses for farmers production capacity also in pipe line. The idea would not enhance income of farmers while also prevent loss of natural resources being used in agro-production.
