Nagpur city registered a spike of COVID-19 cases as 235 tested positive in one single day on Tuesday. With these the cumulative positive number reached 5,340. The Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) is again in action as the Municipal Commissioner Tukaram Mundhe himself is taking several measures. But, according to medicos, the results of those measures may bear fruits in near future.
 
Mundhe on one hand and Mayor Sandip Joshi on the other are working hard to curb the menace. Mundhe has started paying sudden visits to shops or other establishing, asking people to follow social distancing. Mayor is trying to bring awareness among people about the Covid 19 norms. There was heavy demand from the people regarding start of Covid-19 testing centres which started functioning. These measures will surely bear the fruits, may not now, but in near future. On Tuesday, Mundhe visited these testing laboratories personally and took stock of the situation. He passed on the instructions to the officials about the functioning of the laboratories. Jalaj Sharma, Additional Commissioner has been appointed by NMC to monitor the Covid-19 facilities in private hospitals.
 
Meanwhile, there is a good recovery of 120 coronavirus positive patients in Nagpur city taking the cumulative number of people discharged to 3,498. With 13 people die of coronavirus in one single day, the total number reached 128. A lot of people are coming forward to get themselves tested for coronavirus. On Tuesday, the Chairman of NMC Health Committee Virendra Kukreja took an initiative for conducting sample examinations. The activity was attended by 109 people, of which 35 tested positive for coronavirus.
 
According to Dr Vinky Rughwani, out of those tested positive barring 8 persons all were asymptomatic. He expressed fear that the result of the sample examinations make one feels that it could be the community spread. Dr Rughwani appealed people to follow all the norms of social distancing else coronavirus would lead to more number of cases.
