Even as Prime Minister Narendra Modi was performing bhoomipujan of Shri Ram Temple in Ayodhya on Wednesday, celebrations broke out all across Nagpur to mark the historic occasion. Leaders and various organisations celebrated the occasion by performing puja of Shri Ram and Sita, at respective residences, and by performing aarti, distributing sweets at various locations across the city. Nitin Gadkari, Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, celebrated the occasion at his residence by performing puja of Shri Ram along with his family members. Gadkari family performed puja, recited ‘Shri Ram Raksha’, ‘Hanuman Chalisa’, and offered aarti. Kanchan Gadkari, Sarang Gadkari, Rutuja Gadkari, Madhura Gadkari, grandchildren Ninad, Arjun, Sanvi, and Nandini Gadkari participated in the puja.
 
Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) workers celebrated the historical event by hoisting saffron-coloured flags at different traffic junctions and squares in the city, and distributing sweets to people. “The dream of construction of Shri Ram Mandir in Ayodhya is being realised after 500 years. The temple construction has started and it has become possible because of dedication, devotion and sacrifice of Karsevaks who went to Ayodhya 30 years ago,” said Pravin Datke, MLC and BJP city chief.
 
BJP workers hoisted flags, performed puja of Shri Ram, and distributed sweets in different areas of city including Pt Bachchraj Vyas Square, Dakshinamurti Square, Chhapru Square, near Chitnis Park, Sitabuldi, Manewada, Gittikhadan Square, Jaripatka, Nara Nari Square, Matey Chowk, Wardhaman Nagar, Khamla, Pardi, Ambedkar Square, Vaishnodevi Square, Satranjipura, Shanti Nagar, Prem Nagar, Golibar Square, Laxmibhavan Square, Shankar Nagar Square, Baidyanath Square, Ajni Square, Jagnade Chowk, Law College Square, Samvidhan Square, Ashok Chowk, Reshimbagh Square, Hanuman Nagar Square, Shahid Chowk, Satnami Nagar Square, different temples in city etc.

South Indian Cell of BJP organised Shri Sita Rama Swamy puja at Ram Nagar Square. The workers garlanded the portrait of Shri Ram and distributed sweets. PSN Murty, Co-Convenor, State unit; Sandip Pillai, Acting President; K V Nagarajan, Vinod Naidu, C S Nagrale, Ganesh Manthapurwar, Manoj Katrapawar, Sagar Mantapurwar, Rajan Nair, Radha Nair, K Suribabu, P T Sharma, Peri Raja Ramesh, Sista Anant, Pitalwar, Neetu Akurkar, Renu Nagurkar, Shanker Adluri, Shanker Matangi, Sunil Kachware, Easwer Mohod, Ram Kumar Chouhan, Ram Shriram Tripathi, Sunil Mitra, Gopal Banker, Vinod Kanhere, and Pramod Kourati also attended the programme.
 
BJP workers also distributed 101 kg laddu. Subhash Kotecha, Sanjay Awachat, Pintu Patel, Manoj Paliwal, Ketan Sethiya, Akshay Belsare, Nehal Pohane, Asha Borkar, Rani Dhawale, Manoj Loya, Gaurav Jaju, Sayed Husain Ali, and others were present. The residents of nearby areas celebrated the occasion by drawing a huge rangoli in Padole Square, bursting fire-crackers, performing aarti of Shri Ram, and distributing sweets. Deepak Deshpande, Vidarbha Prant Seva Pramukh; corporator Dilip Dive, Vimal Shrivastav, Pradeep Chaudhary, Sandeep Kulkarni, Rajendra Agrawal, Shailesh Khond, Paresh Joshi, Varsha Chaudhary, Renuka Kashikar, Gajanan Kapse, Kajal Bagdi, Priti Shukla, Pravin Dani, Pramod Joshi, Anagha Bhandarkar, Atul Durugkar, Dhananjay Tapas, Jayshree Jodh, Jeevan Mudliar, Ram Subrahmanyam, Pankaj Dawande, Sandhya Dorle, Megha Pandit, Navin Malewar, Vivek Mendhi, Anusaya Gupta, Sandeep Gabhane, Uday Ambulkar, Kiran Channore, Tushar Agrawal, Prakashchandra Agrawal were present. Yuva Kranti Manch and Yuva Bharti also distributed sweets in Savarkar Square in Khamla. Chandrashekhar Bawankule, former Guardian Minister; Sandip Joshi, Mayor; Panju Totwani, Ketan Mohitkar, Akshay Fating, Ranjit Adey, Devendra Raikwad, Purushottam Bawankude, Sumit Mishra, Jay Paliwal and others participated in the event. Samarpan Seva Samiti and Himalaya Pariwar conducted plantation drive to mark the occasion.
 
Girish Vyas, MLC; Naresh Jummani, Manoj Agrawal, Raju Tiwari, Nachiket Vyas, Madanmohan Purohit, Dr Chandak, Narendra Kaushik, Jethanand Khandwani, Mahesh Gwalani, Ashok Jha, Devchand Jain and others were present on the occasion. Deepak Pohnekar, Vijay Jagshettiwar, Chetan Rakhunde, Karan Thakur, Katole, Suresh Patle and others performed pooja in Santoshi Nagar. Hindu Sena conducted aarti and distributed prasad at Vihirgaon. Gaurav Gupta, Gopal Kariya, Deepak Manapure and others were present. The inmates of Shri Maheshwar Vanprasth Ashram in Ujjwal Gorakshan premises at Bahadura, raised slogans and hailed the bhoomipujan ceremony. Girish Vyas, MLC and President of Agyaram Devi Mandir Trust; Hariom Agrawal, Ramchandra Pillare, Girijashankar Agrawal, Vinod Ashtikar, Vikas Petkar, Suresh Tiwari and others distributed boondi to people at Agyaram Devi Mandir.

Celebrations in East Nagpur Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) workers in East Nagpur celebrated the historical event of bhoomipujan of Shri Ram Mandir in Ayodhya by reciting ‘Ram Naam’, bursting crackers, distributing sweets etc. BJP workers offered aarti in each temple in East Nagpur. They distributed 500 kg laddus in different areas. Members decorated their residences, roads and lanes in their areas with grand rangolis. The workers raised slogans of ‘Jai Shri Ram’. Rahul Jain arranged saffron flags. The world’s shortest lady Jyoti Amge also participated in the celebrations.
 
While addressing the gathering Krishna Khopde, MLA, said that senior leader Lal Krishna Advani had conducted ‘Rath Yatra’ for construction of Ram Temple in Ayodhya, lakhs of Kar Sevaks had visited Ayodhya, and workers of BJP, RSS and other Hindu organisations dedicated their lives for the same. “It is because of collective efforts by all these members and Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s commitment, the dream of Shri Ram Mandir in Ayodhya has been fulfilled,” he added.
