13 more deaths were registered in one single day, while 83 persons recover 
 
On Wednesday, Nagpur district registered 269 new coronavirus positive cases in one single day taking the cumulative number to such cases 5,609. With 13 more deaths due to COVID-19, the total number of fatalities has reached 141. Meanwhile, 83 more coronavirus positive persons have recovered in Nagpur city taking the cumulative number of such persons to 3,581.
 
Following relaxation in the norms regarding quarantine and hospital admissions of Covid-19 positive persons, citizens have heaved a sigh of relief. Several people are availing the benefit of walk-in testing facilities at the centres started by Nagpur Municipal Corporation. In city, 21 such centres are functioning full-fledged with senior officers themselves monitoring the situation. Also, lot of private hospitals have started Covid-19 facility and their bed occupancy is almost full.
 
The new samples that were tested positive were from virology laboratory of Indira Gandhi Government Medical College and Hospital (IGGMCH) (63), Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) (58), All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) (25), molecular diagnostic laboratory of National Environmental Engineering Research Institute (NEERI) (19), Centre for Zoonosis, Nagpur Veterinary College affiliated to Maharashtra Animal Fisheries Sciences University (MAFSU) (19), private laboratories (47). 
 
Panic among DRM staffers as 4 test +ve
 
Employees demand temporary closure of the SECR’s DRM office

Employees at office of Divisional Railway Manager (DRM), South East Central Railway (SECR), Nagpur Division, have panicked after four of their colleagues tested positive for novel coronavirus in the recent past. With sudden surge in the cases in city, Railway establishment also is seeing rise in patients and against this backdrop a demand has emerged for temporary closure of office to stop the transmission. Several organisations have appealed DRM Shobhana Bhattacharya to take note of the spread of virus and demanded more stringent containment measures.
 
They cited a similar instance in Raipur Division wherein the local Collector ordered closure of DRM office, excluding Control Room, for 10 days, in the aftermath of surfacing of COVID-19 patients in administrative office. At DRM’s Nagpur Division office, so far, four persons have tested positive for COVID-19 in last 15 days while one more is a suspect. These employees are from Engineering Control, TXR, one from operating and one other department housed in DRM office building. In this light, the employees have urged DRM that office be shut down for few days and entire be sanitised so as to prevent local transmission.
