GROWING tilt towards far-right and increasing vocal expression of the right-wing in the last few years are indicators of a big shift in socio-political thinking across the globe. Right-wing outfits are coming out with bold assertions about the political and social systems prevailing in their nations and are getting overwhelming support from the masses either socially or in electorate battles. The change in trend is palpable with change in regimes in nations spread across various continents and beyond ideologies. The growing tilt also emphasizes breaking of the dominance held by left-wing liberals on social thinking with their myopic ideas of community living.

More the shrill narrative of the left liberals started suppressing sanity and a voice of reason, more the unease of the thinkers gave way to support of the right-wing. This divide is starkly visible in most part of the world in the present political scenario and also underlines the flawed thinking of some extremist elements who seek to control public narrative for their own political benefits. A golden mean is what the society is dreaming of through the present churning.

WEED OUT CORRUPT IN TUNE with the promise made to the countrymen by Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi on transparency and accountability, the Centre has brought in a new order for its departments to review services of employees who have completed 30 years in job to identify inefficient or corrupt staff.

The idea is to find out the dead wood in the system and nail the dishonest elements who bring disrepute to the entire department and system. More often than not complacency takes the biggest toll on Government department employees than dishonesty. It is always better to get rid of such factors. As per the new Government missive, such officials will be retired prematurely in public interest. This exercise is not new in Government departments after the NDA took control of the Centre.

In fact, the existing protocols to nail the corrupt elements have been spruced up with new ordinances by the Government. Sweeping action against top officials in the Income Tax department as well as other offices over the last few years has helped in bringing in a strict discipline in their working. The latest order will bring in better clarity to the existing instructions and enable uniform implementation.
