The first meeting of governing body of State Compensatory Afforestation Fund Management and Planning Authority (CAMPA) was held under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel at Chief Minister’s official residence on Wednesday. The Chief Minister reviewed the works done through CAMPA fund in the meeting. It was informed in the meeting that 89.73 lakh human days of employment were generated through various employment-oriented works by spending an amount of Rs 429.21 crore under the annual action plan of CAMPA in 2019-20.
 
During the corona crisis period, 42.44 lakh human days of employment have been generated from April 1 to September 6 by spending an amount of Rs 219.63 crore. Addressing the meeting, the Chief Minister has directed the officers to sanction more works under Avarti Charai Yojana and Forest Rights Act from MNREGA fund to provide employment to tribals in forest areas. Baghel said that 4,400 gothans have been constructed in State where a large number of cattle are being kept in day-care. A large amount of fodder will be required in these gothans. Keeping this in mind, harvesting of green fodder should be done by the Forest Management Committees in the months of September and October so that people can get employment and ensure availability of fodder in gothans.
 
The Chief Minister has directed the officials to make efforts to minimise human-elephant conflicts in forest areas. Baghel also reviewed the works under Narva Yojana. 8,49,000 structures including check structures including check dam, stop dam and anicut out of sanctioned 12,55,128 structures have been constructed in action plan of 2019-20 so far. The Chief Minister has also directed the officials to prepare detailed action plan for improvement of habitat for birds and tigers in forests.
 
Other various matters were also discussed in detail in the meeting. A presentation on Arpa river revival scheme was given in the meeting. The Chief Minister has directed the officials to carry out ground water conservation and augmentation works on priority. Forest Minister Mohammad Akbar, Chief Secretary R P Mandal, Principal Secretary of Forest Department Manoj Pingua, Principal Chief Conservator of Forest Rakesh Chaturvedi and Chief Executive Officer of CAMPA V Sriniwas Rao were present in the meeting. Additional Chief Secretary of Finance Department Amitabh Jain, Principal Secretary of Panchayat and Rural Department Gaurav Dwivedi and Agriculture Production Commissioner M Geetha participated through video conferencing in the meeting.
