A 31-year-old woman in Raipur on Wednesday committed suicide by immolating-self while her two-and-half year old child died due to suffocation. The tragic incident took place at village Tulsi under Mandir Hasaud police station limits, said Mandir Hasaud Station House Officer (SHO) Sonal Gwala. “A woman identified as Yashoda Dheevar (31), a resident of village Tulsi, committed suicide by immolating herself while her male child Nikhil died due to suffocation.

The child died on the spot while Yashoda succumbs to severe burn injuries in the hospital,” said SHO Gwala. SHO Gwala further informed that after learning about the incident, police rushed to the spot and took the woman to DKS Super Specialty Hospital, Raipur where she was declared dead. Prima-facie investigation suggests that the woman has immolated herself by pouring kerosene on the body and no suicide note was recovered by the police during Crime Scene Investigation (CSI).

In this connection, police have registered an Accidental Death Report (ADR) and sent the body for autopsy, said SHO Gwala, adding that anything in this connection will be said after the arrival of the postmortem report.
