BMC starts preparations for reservation of wards

Preparations have been started for the municipal elections by Bhopal Municipal Corporation (BMC). Guidelines for COVID-19 SOP (Standard Operating Procedures) has been issued which includes wearing masks, maintain social distancing and sanitisation will also been done on the auditorium where reservation of wards will be done. For this, reservation of wards of Bhopal Municipal Corporation will be done in the auditorium of Gandhi Medical College from September 17 from 1 pm to 3 pm. The Urban Housing and Development Department has issued an order in this regard.
 
According to the order, the action of reservation of all the bodies will start from September 17. In view of the COVID-19, a limited number of people will be admitted to the auditorium hall for social distancing. The process of reservation of all 85 wards of Bhopal can be seen on the TV screen outside the auditorium. The municipal corporation elections in Madhya Pradesh will be held by year end or early 2021.
 
This year the reservation of wards was delayed due to COVID-19 lockdown and this is third time date for reservation of wards is being finalised. BMC is geared up to ensure proper procedure with no flouting of COVID-19 norms for that officials will also be deployed.
 
BMC call centres flooded with complaints of irregular garbage collection Bhopal Municipal Corporation (BMC) call centres are flooded with complaints of irregular garbage collection complaints. Many areas are reporting of untimely door to door garbage collection which is aggravating concerns of citizens. In last week, around 2,500 complaints have been registered concerned with sewage cleaning, door to door garbage collection, encroachment etc. On an average more than 50 complaints are getting registered only on improper door to door garbage collections. BMC additional commissioner Shashwat Singh Meena waste segregation should be done at the source and efforts will be done to ensure timely collection. He also reviewed complaints resolution process in BMC call centre.
 
Complaints poured into the call centres of Bhopal Municipal Corporation (BMC) as many localities are also conducting Swachhata Pakhwada. Places like Laxmi Parisar (Gulmohar), E-6, E-7, E-8 Arera Colony, Nayapura of Kolar, Life Line Hospital, shops of Hamidia Road, Dwarika Hotel, BMHRC’s Ring Colony, Dr Malik’s residence (Shivaji Nagar) and many more were worst affected with clogged nullahs. Katra Hills, Saket Nagar, Shakti Nagar, and other colonies developed along Hoshangabad Road also suffer from water-logging, poor garbage collection activity. In the walled-city, Hamidia Road, Itwara, Central Library, Nadra Bus Stand, Mahamai Ka Bagh, Ashoka Garden and in colonies on Raisen Road, Piplani, Sonagiri, Patel Nagar (Raisen Road) also faced nullah choking issues.
